Geo performs geotechnical consultancy for almost all types of projects – both small and large. Geo’s archive contains data and knowledge obtained through numerous projects. The knowledge has been systematically accumulated and processed throughout Geo’s history, and is applied to new projects and investigations. In order for Geo to ensure the client best value for money, investigations and methods are customized for each project.
As market leader within geotechnical investigations, Geo has a long tradition of interpreting data, as well as assessing even the most complicated issues in soil and water. This provides Geo with the know-how and basis to offer consultancy regarding all geotechnical designs and constructions in soil, e.g. foundations, piles, dams, slope redevelopments, construction quarries (sheet piling, Copenhagen piling, secant piling), anchor against uplift, retaining walls and so on.
Geo performs a wide range of inspections and measurements regarding soil projects. Usually inspection of excavations are performed, based on site investigations. However, since this is usually merely a random check on the site, inspection is needed during the excavation, in order to check the conditions during the excavation. Geo inspects the excavation and the soil layers, in order to detect any deviations from the expected, e.g. whether the foundations will need to be constructed deeper in the soil or widened, or if the foundation-base is in fact better than assumed. The excavation control may be combined with compression control (isotope soundings), miniature weight deflectometer or perhaps plate load trials with respect to the requirements of the project.
Several of Geo’s geotechnical engineers work as technical experts appointed by the court of law, in connection to technical and/or legal disputes. In addition, Geo performs third party supervision of other consultant’s projects.
Prior to construction projects, Geo may be consulted concerning the notification of neighbours. Furthermore, Geo offers risk assessments of methods of execution, in order to avoid damages to the neighbourhood buildings. In connection to this, Geo conducts photo registrations, ensuring that damages are acknowledged prior to the construction. Thereafter irrelevant complaints can be rejected, based on the acquired photo documentation.
Geo has extensive expertise in measuring and evaluating vibrations. We set up limit values for vibration speeds, to ensure that the risk of damages or nuisance due to vibrations coming from construction projects, traffic or machines are minimised or completely avoided. Geo has a significant amount of vibration equipment, and is therefore able to solve both small and large tasks efficiently and with agility.
In particular, low frequency vibrations, caused by construction or machines, can be unpleasant for persons in a building, or even cause interruptions of sensitive equipment. Geo can determine the natural frequency, and on that basis assess the measures for improvement.
PDA-measuring (shock wave measuring) is a dynamic strain-test of piles or sheet piling. Geo conducts the measurements with a Pile Driving Analyzer Model 8G, which is the newest and the most advanced model of PDA from Pile Dynamics in USA. PDA-measurements conducted by Geo are able to contribute to the optimisation and supervision of piling or sheet-piling projects.
When purchasing and selling a property, it is of high importance to ensure both sides from unexpected surprises. Cracks in the masonry, cavities in the floors, rocking floors or moisture in the basement are conditions all capable of prompting large costs to remedy or maintain, and can be of great nuisance in daily life. We perform investigations, which provide security in the trade.
Many in the industry use Geo’s state-of-the-art software: WINSPOOKS, for calculating and designing sheet piling. The software is based on the previous SPOOKS software, and run in both 32 and 64 bits versions of Windows.
WINSPOOKS is based on Brinch Hansen’s soil-pressure-theory, Earth Pressure Calculation (EPC). All mayor improvements and additions to the EPC-theory have been implemented in the latest edition (2013) of WINSPOOKS.
